This year, we have gotten back to some type of normalcy. We have flex, snacks (sometimes), and lunch in the dining room all back- but with that comes the old schedule. I personally really liked the late start time and early release, because I had more time at home to get anything done than I would’ve normally gotten done during flex. Flex is beneficial for tutoring, and it’s just a nice break during the day, but rolling in 20 minutes later than STA was definitely a perk. I think that both schedules are beneficial depending on what student you are. Having more eating options this year is also definitely an improvement from last year. We can really eat wherever which is nice, and also means less crowding in the dining room and the return of hot lunches! We also have dances back! So far two homecoming dances (including STA of course), and the infamous disco in a few days. We also have had the re-introduction of the “Vis plague,” with mostly sinus infections and colds taking down each class one by one. Each aspect of this new school year has its pros and cons, but I can definitely say it’s been a blessing to not have to worry about COVID-19 as much.
